Our client is a well-established and growing engineering business, due to continued growth, they are now seeking an organised and proactive Accounts Assistant to join their growing team. The successful candidate will work closely with management, office staff, and operational teams to support the smooth running of the company’s finance and administration function.
Key purpose:This is a varied and hands-on position supporting the day-to-day finance operations of a busy business. Alongside core accounts duties, the role will involve supporting project costing, maintaining accurate job records, and assisting with wider commercial administration. There is genuine long-term progression available for the right person, including exposure to:

Key responsibilities to include, but not limited to:- Processing purchase invoices and supplier statements
- Raising and issuing customer invoices
- Bank reconciliations and support with month-end duties
- Supporting credit control activities
- Maintaining accurate records across finance and operational systems
- Assisting with supplier and customer account queries
- Supporting project costing and commercial tracking
- Maintaining purchase orders and invoice records
- Assisting with management reporting as experience develops
- Liaising with operational and office teams to ensure accurate information flow
- Providing general finance and administration support where required
- Identifying discrepancies and resolving issues proactively
- Previous experience within an accounts or finance administration role
- Experience working within engineering or related sector
- Experience using Xero or similar accounting software
- Experience using job management or project management systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills

- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
