Our client, a leading Civil Engineering business, requires a Transport Manager to join their busy and ever-expanding team based in Harrow.
Role Purpose
The Transport Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the transportation department, including managing drivers, vehicles, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics and transportation management, with the ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of the HGV fleet ensuring all statutory requirements are adhered to.
- Oversee the daily operations of the transportation department.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements, including maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Continuously improve transportation operations by identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
- Developing and implementing transport policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Keeping up to date with the latest developments in transport technology and regulations and implementing changes as necessary.
- Delegated FORS practitioner to maintain the silver FORS accreditation of the Company.
- Managing relationships with suppliers.
- Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Company fleet of vehicles, including maintaining and repairing vehicles as necessary.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, providing regular updates on transportation operations and performance.
- Administer the requirement of the Operator’s Licence ensuring that all regulatory aspects are met including vehicle servicing, defects, and contraventions.
- Effectively managing a commercial fleet.
- Ensuring full legal compliance across the fleet of vehicles.
- Produce investment plans to review fleet.
- Manage the telematics system and utilize the information available to identify improvement in good practices.
Qualifications:
- UK Vehicle Operator Licence.
- Proven experience in transport management, or a similar role.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organisational skills and effective time management.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
- Possess high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Professional and approachable demeanour.
- IT literate.
- Full clean UK Driving Licence.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 07:00 to 17:00
