ERS education are recruiting experienced ASD Teaching Assistants to start immediately working on a long-term contract which could possibly lead to a permanent position. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to support schools in providing care and support to children with a range of Special Needs and behavioural difficulties within the Education/Special Needs sector. It is essential that you have experience working with children/young people with learning difficulties, particularly autism to be considered for this role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting children with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and SEN on a 1:1 basis.
  • Provide day to day support to Teachers in teaching and learning.
  • Supporting colleagues in undertaking personal care related tasks.
  • Working effectively alongside other teaching and support staff to ensure a safe and productive work environment is maintained.
  • Adhere to the Schools policies including Safeguarding, Child Protection, Behaviour Management, Health and Safety.

Requirements:

  • Experience of supporting children with ASD and other associated challenging behaviours.
  • Experience working as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant with special needs children for at least 3 months.
  • A commitment to working with children with special educational needs.
  • Ability to manage confrontation & challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to children’s needs and plan accordingly.
  • Must be an energetic and enthusiastic team player.
  • Must have patience.
  • Be proactive.
  • Ideally have good experience working one to one as a teaching assistant.
  • Work well in a team.
  • Have a positive attitude.
  • Have a passion for working with children with Special Needs.
