Role:
The Façade Designer will support Head of Design by developing detailed design drawings, specifications, and documentation for façade systems across assigned projects. This role involves close collaboration with the design and project teams to ensure the façade design aligns with project requirements, aesthetic vision, and regulatory standards. The Façade Designer will be responsible for technical detailing, material selection, and assisting in design reviews.
Principal Duties & Key Deliverables
Design Development & Detailing:
- Create detailed design drawings and specifications for façade elements, ensuring they meet project specifications and architectural requirements.
- Prepare 2D and 3D models, sketches, and technical drawings to illustrate design concepts, technical solutions, and assembly details.
- Collaborate with the Façade Design Manager to translate project requirements and design intent into constructible solutions.
- Technical Support & Compliance:
- Ensure that all façade designs comply with building regulations, fire safety standards, and relevant industry guidelines.
- Assist in technical assessments of materials, structural elements, and detailing to optimize performance, sustainability, and durability.
- Perform design risk assessments in collaboration with the Façade Design Manager and project team, highlighting potential issues and proposing mitigation measures.
- Coordination with Project Team:
- Work closely with the Façade Design Manager, architects, engineers, and contractors to address design queries and adapt designs to on-site conditions.
- Attend design meetings, workshops, and site visits as needed to review progress and resolve any design-related challenges.
- Support the Façade Design Manager in coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure accurate material selection and delivery.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain all necessary façade design documentation, including drawings, specifications, material data sheets, and compliance records.
- Maintain accurate records of design changes and approvals, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and accessible for project reviews and audits.
- Assist the Façade Design Manager in preparing reports and updates on design progress, technical issues, and project milestones.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven relevant experience in façade design or a related field within the construction industry.
- Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D modelling tools.
- Knowledge of façade systems, materials, building regulations, and technical detailing.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong technical drawing and detailing skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering plans, translating them into detailed façade solutions.
