Join a well-established local company with over 30 years of experience delivering commercial and domestic heating and plumbing services across Dorset and Hampshire. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a hands-on Working Mechanical Supervisor to join our team. This role would suit an experienced Commercial Pipefitter, Plumbing & Heating Engineer, or Mechanical Foreman looking to take the next step into a supervisory position within a growing business.

This is a varied role with approximately a 60/40 split between office and site-based work. You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of projects while also remaining involved on site when required. The role will include organising labour and materials, liaising with clients and subcontractors, monitoring progress, assisting with project coordination, and ensuring works are completed safely and to a high standard. Projects include commercial and domestic heating, plumbing, plant rooms, drainage systems, and general mechanical services work across Dorset and Hampshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support engineers and operatives on site
  • Carry out hands-on mechanical and pipefitting work when required
  • Assist with scheduling labour and organising workloads
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Monitor project progress and provide updates to the office and clients
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Organise materials, equipment, and site requirements
  • Assist with pricing variations and small works where required
  • Support with testing, snagging, and project handovers
  • Ensure works are completed safely and to a high standard
  • Maintain health & safety and site compliance standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Background in commercial plumbing, heating, or mechanical pipefitting
  • Previous experience leading jobs or supervising operatives
  • Strong practical knowledge of mechanical services installations
  • Comfortable balancing both office and site responsibilities
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to lead by example
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
