HR Manager - Talent Consulting Centre of Excellence (CoE)

14 Month Secondment/ Fixed-term Contract

Level 3 - Assistant Director

Location - London or Birmingham

Hybrid working - Currently minimum 1-2 days per week in the office

The opportunity: Part of the Talent Consulting function, responsible for providing a responsive and insightful service to our Service Line Strategic Talent Consultants. The role has particular emphasis on driving change management projects that deliver consistent and efficient processes and ways of working with multiple Service Line Talent teams. This is a generalist HR role which will include such activities as year-end and mid-year review (LEAD), pay review, succession planning, promotions, D&I, listening tools and planned engagement projects. The delivery of restructuring programmes is required on occasion, providing effective collaboration for TUPE and redundancy.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Be at the forefront of all the EY automation skill developments, such as GenAI, and identify opportunities to introduce streamlined and digital solutions in how we work as talent team, but also look for opportunities to improve the experience for our employees.
  • Ensure that all necessary activity relating to LEAD cyclical activity, year end and pay planning are delivered in the most professional and effective manner ensuring consistency across the region.
  • Project manage the operational elements of Restructuring activity such as TUPE and Redundancy, collaborating with the STC, ER, General Counsel and the business.
  • Manage portfolios across UK&I and UK FS SL's including CBS, Executives, PAS, EMEIA CoEs and affiliated businesses not limited to EYP, Agility Works, Seren, EY Frank Hirth, to deliver cyclical HR activities where applicable such as LEAD cycles and HR related initiatives and projects.
  • Prepare and deliver Talent related briefings and webinars.
  • Work with the Talent Analytics team to prepare standard presentation of LEAD results, split by SL/function for e.g. on DE&I proportionality to deploy to relevant STC's to review accordingly for Service lines.
  • Lead or collaborate on service line specific initiatives and enablement projects such as Core HR, flexible working, talent development and DE&I initiatives.
  • Field non-standard queries: E.g., retention bonus negotiations and confirmation, out of policy exception, sickness exceptions, on behalf of our Service Line Talent Teams.
  • Liaise with other Talent functions such as ER, D&I, Reward, Enablement, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development to enable the business and SL to achieve business, programme and initiative needs.
  • Manage any emergent priorities such as Covid with short notice reactive support.
  • Engage with FS and UK&I STC's on a regular basis to ensure business needs are met.
  • Ensure trusted relationships are built with Partners and Senior Managers across service lines.
  • Collaborate with the FS and UK&I STC's to ensure workflow from service lines to our HR Advisors (HRA) is effectively managed.
  • Support and counsel HRA's to deliver high quality services to our stakeholders, providing relevant coaching and context to activity requests.

Skills and attributes for success:

  • A good understanding and experience of introducing change using design thinking.
  • Ability to effectively manage, lead and deliver on Talent related project activity or workstreams, working with multiple stakeholders.
  • A real interest and understanding of GenAI and other technology that can be used by Talent to create more effective ways of working, such as Microsoft 365.
  • Current knowledge of Diversity and Inclusiveness practices and thought leadership.
  • Experience of contributing to business decision making, strategic planning discussions, and operational planning events.
  • Proven ability to influence at all levels in the organisation, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Resilient, practical and a self-starter; comfortable with working on own and in teams.
  • Demonstrates ability to coach and advise partners/directors/senior managers.
  • Possesses leading edge knowledge of contemporary HR practices.
  • Proven Employee Relations experience of redundancy and TUPE programs. Knowledge of UK employee legislation.

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • A post graduate qualification in a Business or Human Resource discipline.
