The Private Tax team at EY acts for a wide range of entrepreneurial, owner managed, family owned and PE backed businesses together with their shareholders. We are trusted advisers to our clients and deliver a broad range of tax advisory and compliance services to the corporate entities, including reorganisations, transaction structuring & assistance and ongoing tax advisory in relation to the client's day to day operations.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an ambitious and motivated corporate tax specialist to join EY's successful and dynamic Private Tax Team based in Scotland. The role includes working with a wide range of successful private businesses, providing a great opportunity to work in a client facing, 'hands on' role to deliver exceptional outputs and service to our clients. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to developing the practice, expanding networks and winning new business.
Your key responsibilities:
- Management of the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects for clients, ensuring technical excellence and practical/business driven approach taken.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients.
- Proactive business development to win new work.
- Provision of development support to junior members of the team through effective supervision, coaching and mentoring.
- Contribution to people initiatives, including retaining and training our team.

- Good knowledge of advising a range of companies including Owner Managed, Family Owned and PE backed.
To qualify for the role you must have:
- ICAS / ACA / CTA / Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training course / Law qualification / Tax specialist qualification / or breadth of knowledge equivalent to a Tax specialist qualification.
- Strong tax technical skills - corporate tax specialist.
- Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work.
- Experience of coaching and developing more junior staff.
Ideally you'll also have:
- Project management skills, plan and prioritize work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget.
- Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically.
- Knowledge/appreciation of personal taxes to the extent shareholder/management team involvement in corporate tax structuring.
