EY’s Private Capital Tax team is the largest such practice in the UK with an exceptional reputation for sector expertise and close, trusted adviser relationships across a broad range of clients including global financial institutions, market-leading boutiques, high-net-worth individuals, and investment and business structures. It provides corporate, partnership and personal tax advisory services.
The opportunity
This role is relevant for an individual with corporate, personal, owner-managed business, or mixed tax background. EY’s Private Capital Tax team provides a full suite of tax advisory and compliance services to non-listed financial services businesses, covering UK and international tax affairs for the business, owners, employees and other stakeholders. It also advises ultra-high net-worth and high-profile individuals on their personal needs and business holdings or investment structures (e.g., trusts, funds, family companies), including asset-management businesses, fintechs and other non-listed financial services organisations.
Your key responsibilities
- Manage the successful delivery of tax advisory projects across a range of matters including UK corporation tax, international tax, income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and other relevant UK and international tax matters for individuals, businesses and partnerships.
- Help people to develop through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring staff.
- Role in the management of the team both in terms of strategy and operations and through managing staff development and assignments.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients.
- Proactively develop new business to win work.
- Interact with other EY offices both in the UK and overseas.
- Contact HM Revenue & Customs and other third parties, including major financial institutions, lawyers and wealth advisory businesses.
Skills and attributes for success
- Demonstrated track record of leading the delivery of UK tax advice to clients.
- Technical and practical tax knowledge and experience in advising individuals, families and their investment structures, UK corporate tax and/or partnership matters.
- Client focused and strategically and commercially aware.
- Strong client relationship management skills with ability to develop quality outputs.
- Effective time management and ability to meet client deadlines.
- Excellent communicator in a range of situations, both written and oral.
- Enthusiastic team player with ability to create, sustain and lead effective teams.
- Ensure delivery of quality work and take day-to-day leadership of the delivery team.
- Computer literacy, with the ability to adapt to new systems.
To qualify for the role you must have
- ACA / CTA / Tax Inspectors with full technical training course / Law qualification / Tax specialist qualification.
- Strong tax technical skills.
- Initiative, professionalism and confidence.
- Experience of coaching and developing junior staff.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- The ability to motivate a team, manage, mentor and train junior staff and work with people across the business.
