The Opportunity
Are you passionate about working on a truly global scale? Do you want to help businesses and individuals navigate complex international tax and mobility challenges? Join our UK&I Global Japanese Mobility team as a Tax Assistant and be part of a growing, high‑performing practice.
In this role, you’ll work with a dynamic team advising clients on international assignments, short‑term business travel, and cross‑border remote work. You’ll collaborate with specialists across personal tax, employment tax, immigration, and reward services—gaining hands‑on experience and building the capabilities to become a future leader in global mobility.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the management of clients with inbound expatriates to the UK and UK outbounds.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing consistently high levels of service.
- Contribute to the delivery of both tax compliance and advisory services.
- Assist in the successful execution of mobility tax projects with a focus on technical excellence.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the UK and our offshore compliance processing centre to manage workflow.
- Adhere to EY’s Quality and Risk Management processes.
- Actively contribute to business development by supporting existing client relationships.
- Participate in personal and team development as a trusted member of the practice.
Skills and Attributes for Succes
- Prior experience in expatriate tax is desirable but not essential — we welcome candidates with transferable skills or those seeking their first step into a career in Global Mobility.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with clients and colleagues.
- A proactive and enthusiastic attitude, with a willingness to embrace new ways of working.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercial awareness and a client-focused mindset.
- Good project management, time management, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage risk, perform effective reviews, and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Collaborative team player who thrives in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in professional services is a plus but not essential to the role.
- ATT/CTA qualification desirable, however support can be offered to candidates seeking to study towards a professional qualification
