This role supports the delivery of complex International Tax & Transaction Services (ITTS) work for Japanese‑ and Asia‑Pacific‑headquartered multinational groups investing into, operating in, or restructuring across the UK, Europe and wider EMEIA. Demand for this work is established and recurring, and delivery is highly advisory‑led and execution‑intensive.
Your key responsibilities:
- Transaction tax structuring and execution support for inbound and outbound acquisitions and disposals, including coordination with Tax Due Diligence, SaT and Legal teams.
- Post‑Merger Integration (PMI) and post‑deal implementation, including legal‑entity rationalisation, integration planning and sequencing of post‑completion restructurings.
- Large‑scale group and regional restructuring projects, including simplification programmes, UK and EU mergers, holding‑company location and rationalisation, and treasury/financing restructures.
- BEPS 2.0 / Pillar Two advisory and implementation projects, including impact assessments, governance and process design, QDMTT analysis and coordination with EY Japan and local territory teams.
- International tax risk, governance and controversy projects, including BRRs, post‑restructuring tax authority engagement, MAP support and alignment of global positions between Japan HQ and overseas tax authorities.
- Complex restructuring and novel solutions to structuring and funding challenges – including navigating the Japanese CFC rules, working on clearances, structuring planning and execution.
The team has worked on some market leading transactions, restructuring exercises including complex UK mergers, we are considered best in our field in this complex area.
Skills and attributes for success:
- Fluent in Japanese.
- International Tax experience required.
