The Opportunity

EY’s Valuation team is a fully integrated group of c.100 professionals providing valuation and financial modelling services to our clients. We work with many of the largest blue‑chip corporates across a diverse range of industry sectors, providing insights and quality services to help build trust and confidence in capital markets and economies across the globe.

We are seeking to recruit Assistant Directors to strengthen and grow our valuations capability in the TMT and Life Sciences sectors. The role will cover valuations of all types including for commercial, tax, litigation and financial reporting purposes. There will also be the opportunity to work across the entire team covering other sectors.

The successful candidate will enjoy the potential for rapid personal development in a dynamic team with strong growth ambitions. From the outset they will be exposed to a diverse range of challenging valuation projects working with colleagues across our Strategy and Transactions practice.

Skills and attributes for success

The successful candidate should be capable of working on multiple projects at the same time, as well as possessing strong business development and project/team management skills.

As a senior member of the team your key responsibilities will include:

  • Driving the growth of our sector valuations offering
  • Building a network of contacts both internally and externally.
  • Day‑to‑day management of projects across a variety of team sizes
  • Day‑to‑day client liaison and leader of client meetings.
  • Coordinating input from other EY specialists within Valuations and our wider Strategy and Transactions (SaT) team.
  • Producing high quality presentations.
  • Pro‑actively supporting business development initiatives.
  • An outstanding team player, but also with the resilience and motivation to operate individually.
  • Play an active part in the management of our wider team of Managers, Executives and Analysts including coaching, counselling and on‑the‑job training.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Prior experience within your chosen sector of either TMT or Life Sciences
  • A technical background in valuations or a financial qualification such as CFA, ACA, ASA and/or a business university degree.
  • The ability to articulate a narrative around value and support it with robust analysis
  • Well‑honed communications skills and the ability to collaborate well with people and teams
  • Energetic, lateral thinker with an enquiring mind and a commercial risk aware approach.
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail including modelling and first‑class numeracy.
  • Intellectual rigour, agility and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and team management skills.
  • Experience of business development activities for example proposal preparation, participation in pitches and building/nurturing client relationships.
