Are you an experienced Cladding & Roofing Designer or senior Draughtsman looking to step into a Design Manager role within a growing specialist contractor, working on large-scale commercial and industrial projects across the UK? In this role, you will take the lead in coordinating, checking, and approving design information while remaining hands-on when required. You will work closely with internal design teams, clients, consultants, manufacturers, and site teams to ensure buildable, compliant, and cost-effective solutions are delivered.
This role would suit an experienced designer or former draughtsman looking to progress into a senior, managerial position within a specialist contractor.
The Role:
- Coordinate, check, and approve drawings, details, and fabrication information
- Manage a small team effectively
- Produce detailed working drawings when required
- Interpret architectural, structural, and steelwork drawings, raising design queries
- Attend client and design team meetings (in person and via Teams)
- Liaise with architects, consultants, system manufacturers, and clients
- Support site teams by resolving technical and installation queries
- Produce and review material take-offs and schedules, assisting procurement
- Carry out site surveys and measurements where required
- Support the wider design and project delivery function as the business grows
The Person:
- Experience in roofing, cladding, or building envelope design
- Strong technical knowledge of composite, standing seam, and twin-skin systems
- Competent AutoCAD user (or similar CAD packages)
- Able to interpret architectural and structural drawings
