Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in AutoCAD or similar, looking for a hands‑on role where you will receive full training, clear progression, and real influence over products from day one? Join a specialist engineering company investing heavily in innovation and R&D. You will help shape bespoke roofing systems, working closely with Tier 1 contractors and architects on technically challenging projects.
In this role you will work on R&D projects from concept through to manufacture, working across CAD, prototyping, and testing. Based primarily in the Royston office, you will collaborate closely with the R&D Manager and wider business to deliver robust, evidence‑led product development. This role is ideal for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in AutoCAD who wants hands‑on ownership of projects from ideation to delivery.
THE ROLE:- Lead and contribute to early‑stage concept development and feasibility assessments
- Design bespoke construction solutions using 2D and 3D CAD (AutoCAD / Inventor)
- Develop performance criteria, technical specifications, and specification summary reports
- Produce and manage prototype components, fabrication, and assembly
- Conduct internal testing for functionality, structural performance, and weathering integrity
- Coordinate external testing and ensure compliance with industry standards
