We are seeking a motivated and driven individual to join our Specialist Vegetable Sales & Service team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture, with a preference for experience in vegetable and root crop production.

Role Purpose: In this role, you will act as a key link between the Sales and Service teams, ensuring effective communication and coordination to support customers and deliver high-quality technical solutions. Working within a small, focused team, you will provide technical expertise, assist the sales team with product knowledge and recommendations, and support service operations to ensure customers receive a seamless and professional experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and operational management of smaller specialist franchises by assisting with technical support, product knowledge, and customer service to strengthen the customer base.
  • Provide hands-on machinery support on customer farms, including setup, optimisation, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and operational guidance.
  • Carry out professional installation, commissioning, and thorough operator training for new machinery and technology systems to ensure customers achieve optimal performance.
  • Deliver on-farm demonstrations and provide technical guidance on advanced systems such as GPS guidance, VRT, ISOBUS controls, telematics, and other data-driven technologies.
  • Maintain regular contact with customers, providing responsive technical assistance and ongoing after-sales support to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging Agri-tech solutions, and product developments, sharing relevant insights with the wider team.
  • Work closely with service teams, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure strong product performance, efficient support, and high customer satisfaction.
  • Attend product demonstrations, agricultural shows, and manufacturer training sessions to build technical expertise and support customer engagement activities.
  • Assist with franchise and machinery promotion by contributing to technical content such as case studies, demonstrations, digital updates, newsletters, and open days.
  • Regular travel across the UK and Ireland is required, with occasional international travel for training or manufacturer visits.
  • Carry out repair work, pre-delivery inspections, servicing, maintenance, and over-wintering of machines.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and organisation of the specialist vegetable workshop area.
  • Coordinate transport arrangements for machinery movements when required.

Qualifications:

  • Previous technical experience within the agricultural trade is desirable.
  • Good mechanical understanding of agricultural machinery, preferably focused on vegetable equipment.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to demonstrate machinery in field to best effect.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deal diplomatically with customers during busy periods both verbally and in writing.
  • Proactive and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business.
  • Ability to act with discretion when dealing with confidential matters.
  • Ability to manage customer expectations without over-committing.
  • Able to work alone and use initiative.

Working Hours and Compensation:

  • Start Date: Immediate, subject to replacement of existing role if successful.
  • Hours: 42.5 hours per week – 8am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday (1hr unpaid lunch). Additional hours as required may include weekends as per rota, especially during peak periods such as harvest.
  • Salary: Dependent on experience, plus company van and company mobile phone.
