Job details

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding classroom practitioner who is passionate about Science and wants to play a key role in developing teaching, learning and outcomes across the department.

Working closely with the Head of Science, the successful candidate will contribute to the leadership and development of the Science Department, helping to secure high standards of teaching, learning and achievement.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Contribute to the strategic development and improvement of the Science Department.
• Support the Head of Science with curriculum design, sequencing and the development of schemes of work.
• Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and well-resourced Science lessons.
• Raise attainment and achievement through high expectations and effective teaching.
• Use assessment and performance data to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
• Support colleagues in developing consistently high-quality teaching and learning.
• Promote an inclusive learning environment where all students can achieve their potential.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and pastoral responsibilities.
• Support the development of a positive culture of ambition, perseverance and unity.

About you

We are looking for a teacher who:

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification.
• Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with a strong track record of achieving positive outcomes.
• Has detailed subject knowledge and the ability to teach Science to GCSE level.
• Ideally has experience teaching Science at A Level.
• Has strong classroom management skills and high expectations of students.
• Can motivate, inspire and challenge young people.
• Has excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Can use assessment and performance data effectively to support improvement.
• Can work collaboratively and contribute positively to the development of colleagues and the wider department
