Ernest Bevin Academy is seeking an experienced and committed leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Principal with responsibility for SENCO and safeguarding. This is a key strategic role for a leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for students with SEND and ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding across the academy.

About the role

You will provide strategic leadership for SEND provision and safeguarding, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed. You will work closely with staff, families and external agencies to build a strong culture of inclusion, high expectations and effective support. As a member of SLT, you will contribute to whole school leadership, improvement planning and the ongoing development of teaching and learning.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage SEND provision across the academy
  • Act as SENCO, including oversight of EHCPs and statutory requirements
  • Lead safeguarding and child protection systems and practice
  • Monitor student progress and implement targeted interventions
  • Support high quality adaptive teaching across the curriculum
  • Line manage SEND staff and deploy resources effectively
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers and external agencies
  • Contribute to school improvement and staff development
