Ernest Bevin Academy is seeking an exceptional Head of English to lead one of the school's most important curriculum areas. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and highly effective teacher to shape the strategic direction of English, raise achievement, and inspire a love of language and literature across the academy. As Head of English, you will provide strategic leadership for the department, ensuring high-quality teaching, an ambitious curriculum and excellent outcomes for students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. You will lead a team of committed professionals, driving continuous improvement through effective curriculum planning, staff development and a relentless focus on student achievement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the strategic direction and development of the English department

Person specification
The successful candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have a degree in English or a related subject
- Demonstrate successful teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with Key Stage 5 experience desirable
- Have the ability to lead, motivate and develop colleagues effectively
- Possess strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Have a proven commitment to raising standards and improving outcomes
- Be skilled in using data to inform teaching and drive student success
- Be committed to inclusive education and high expectations for all learners
