ERM is seeking an experienced Human Factors Consultant to support the delivery of premium research, safety, and resilience proposals across a range of high-hazard industries. The role is based in one of ERM’s core offices—London, Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh, or Aberdeen—and requires a valid passport and a preference for a full UK driving licence.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of safety projects and programs, including development and implementation of safety improvement initiatives, human factors, human error/reliability, safety culture, human performance, and human factors in design.
- Provide technical and subject matter leadership within projects and support the growth and evolution of ERM’s safety and Human Factors services.
- Lead Human Factors Engineering (HFE) technical studies and facilitate workshops (e.g. Safety Critical Task Analysis) independently with clients.
- Apply analytics tools—including Artificial Intelligence—and experiment design principles and statistics to safety studies.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documents for client and internal audiences.
- Engage in business development, fostering relationships with existing and new clients, and building on existing service lines.
- Manage projects day-to-day, acting as the main point of contact for clients, and lead project teams, managing budgets, resources, deliverables, and scheduling.
- Mentor junior team members.

Qualifications
- Degree level (minimum) in Psychology, Human Factors, Ergonomics, or a related discipline.
- Hold chartered membership status with the IEHF or another relevant institution, or possess the necessary qualifications and experience to apply for chartership.
- Experience in O&G is considered essential; background in process safety studies is an asset.
