ERM is looking for an Environmental Permitting Consultant to join our rapidly growing permitting team. The role is required to support a range of critical projects for our data centre and wider industrial sector clients with environmental permitting and compliance matters as well as regulatory advice and support. The role requires working knowledge of the Environmental Permitting/Pollution Prevention Control regimes across the UK. Knowledge of Emissions Trading Schemes (ETS) would be a bonus.
We are seeking candidates with experience in the consultancy, industry or regulatory sectors. Additional areas of experience that may be considered beneficial to the role are within air quality modelling, waste water management or the waste management industry. The consultant will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of working with environmental regulators to seek outcomes favourable to our clients. The ability to propose and support the client’s position underpinned by prior precedent or impact assessment is essential. Applicants with detailed knowledge of equivalent European regimes to those in the UK will also be considered.
Role expectations:
- Data gathering and analysis to support environmental permit applications, variations and surrenders
- Writing the necessary application materials for environmental permit applications, variations and surrenders
- Delivery of specific tasks within a wider project
- Working on multiple projects concurrently
- Working within a team of other consultants across the environmental permitting team and the wider business as required
- Have familiarity of environmental impact assessment disciplines, as relevant to environmental permitting
- Critical thinking and numeracy skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Competent with MS Office software
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant science or environmental discipline. Experience in the consultancy, industry or regulatory sectors is preferred.
