The Learning Content Designer designs and writes high‑quality learning content that builds real capability across ERM. This role applies strong instructional design, learning content writing and sense‑making skills to rapidly translate complex, technical and specialist knowledge into effective learning experiences. Content spans a broad range of domains, including behavioural, leadership, change, technical, process, tools and systems. The role uses AI‑enabled tools to accelerate drafting, variation and iteration, while relying on human learning judgement to ensure accuracy, relevance, ethical use and learning effectiveness. This is a hands‑on specialist role suited to experienced learning content professionals who want to deepen their craft and grow their impact in a skills‑based organisation. This role is a 1 year fixed term contract.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Independently design and write learning content that supports performance and behaviour change
- Rapidly synthesise complex information into usable learning assets
- Use AI tools effectively to increase speed and scalability without compromising learning quality
- Partner confidently with SMEs and stakeholders across services
- Deliver learning content at pace in ambiguous, fast‑moving contexts
Instructional Content Design & Learning Writing
- Design and write learner‑centred content aligned to defined outcomes, skills and behaviours
- Apply instructional design principles to structure content that supports application, not just knowledge transfer
- Create clear, engaging learning narratives across diverse subject matter
- Adapt content style, depth and structure for different audiences and contexts

Rapid Sense Making & Content Development
- Quickly distil complex, technical or specialist information into effective learning content
- Identify what matters most for learner performance and prioritise accordingly
- Work iteratively, producing usable content early and improving it over time
- Balance speed, accuracy and learning effectiveness in transformation‑led environments

AI Augmented Content Development (Applied, Not Theoretical)
- Use generative AI tools to support first‑draft content creation, content variation for different audiences or skill levels, scenario generation, examples and practice activities, summarising and restructuring SME or technical input
- Apply human judgement to validate accuracy and relevance, ensure ethical and responsible use of AI, maintain learning quality, tone and ERM standards
- Integrate AI naturally into the content design workflow to increase speed and scalability

Multi Format & Flow of Work Learning
- Design learning content across multiple formats, including instructor‑led learning (facilitator guides, activities, participant materials), self‑paced and digital learning (modules, microlearning, performance support), blended and campaign‑based learning
- Create modular content that can be reused, recombined and adapted over time
- Design assets intended for use in the flow of work, not only formal completion

SME Partnership & Learning Consulting
- Work closely with SMEs across services and regions to extract insight efficiently
- Ask effective questions to surface what learners need to do differently
- Translate SME input into learner‑centred content without over‑reliance on raw source material
- Build credibility as a learning partner who adds value through design judgement
Key skills: stakeholder management, facilitation, consulting mindset, influencing without authority.
Learning Tools, Platforms & Content Craft
- Use learning content development tools to design and build learning assets efficiently
- Select appropriate formats and tools based on learning need, speed and scale
- Design content for delivery via LMS/LXP and workplace platforms (e.g. Teams, SharePoint)
- Apply accessibility, inclusion and ERM learning design standards consistently
