Overview
ERM, the world\\\’s largest pure play sustainability consultancy, has an entry level opportunity for a Marine Geoscience Consulting Associate with a geophysical focus. The Capital Projects Delivery team offers integrated marine geophysical and geotechnical services to clients across sectors including marine aggregates, offshore wind, wave and tidal energy, subsea cables, coastal/marine engineering, and ports/harbours developments. The team is developing ERM’s Marine Centre of Excellence, a hub of marine environmental and planning consultancy services for clients across seabed user sectors and marine projects, including offshore wind.
Responsibilities
- You will support a range of geoscience projects, with a focus on hydrographic and geomorphological interpretation using survey data including bathymetry, sidescan sonar, magnetometer and shallow seismic data using industry-standard software.
- You\\u2019ll interrogate these data to assess seabed habitats, shallow sediments, and physical processes for projects from sectors including marine aggregates, offshore renewables and marine cables.
- Projects will encompass parts of or whole project life-cycles, including prospecting, site investigation, Environmental Impact Assessments, monitoring and licence conditions, decommissioning and post-project close out.
- You will feed into technical and non-technical report writing and data presentation, and provide support in writing proposals for future projects.
About You / Qualifications
- Degree-qualified in a relevant marine geoscience or geophysics or oceanography subject
- Experience with ESRI ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro or QGIS, and ideally at least one specialist geoscience software program (e.g., IHS Kingdom, Petrel, Surfer, SonarWiz, or Moga Seaview)
- Understanding of offshore geophysical acquisition equipment and techniques
- Grounding in interpreting seabed features and marine geomorphology in hydrographic and geophysical data
- Understanding of the marine hydrodynamic environment and sediment transport processes
- Skilled in technical and non-technical writing, reviewing a range of reports, papers and technical results, and extracting the required information
- Keen to learn and develop within a diverse, international team
- Offshore survey experience is desirable
