Overview
As Lead Assessor for UK ETS, you will steer verification engagements across energy-intensive sectors to ensure accurate, transparent emissions reporting. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to uphold regulatory compliance and strengthen client trust in environmental performance. Your leadership will shape UK ETS verification practices and contribute to ERM CVS’s growth in emissions assurance. This role offers the chance to influence industry-wide governance and accelerate the low-carbon transition.
Responsibilities
- Conduct UK ETS verification assessments to validate data and regulatory compliance
- Lead audit and verification engagements from planning through reporting and closure
- Evaluate emissions reporting systems and controls for data integrity
- Prepare technical reports detailing findings, observations, and non-conformities
- Provide expert guidance on UK ETS requirements and best practices
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align verification with regulatory frameworks
- Build trusted relationships with clients, regulators, and industry stakeholders
- Support business development by identifying opportunities to grow ERM CVS’s services
- Maintain technical expertise on evolving regulatory developments and carbon market requirements
Key requirements
- Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- Proven experience auditing, assessing, or verifying management systems in high-emission industries
- Strong sector expertise in Oil & Gas, heavy industry, manufacturing, mining, metals, or energy-intensive operations
- In-depth knowledge of UK ETS regulations, carbon accounting, emissions monitoring and reporting methodologies
- Working knowledge of ISO management standards (ISO 14001, 45001, 50001, 9001) and practical auditing
- Understanding of verification frameworks ISO 17029 and ISO 14064
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex audits and verification activities
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and report-writing skills
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% across UK, offshore locations, and internationally
