Overview

In this role you will lead post-consent environmental compliance for major offshore infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to consent requirements, commitments, and regulatory obligations. You will guide cross-functional teams, manage risk, and maintain strong regulator and stakeholder relationships. You’ll work across sectors such as offshore wind, subsea transmission, renewable energy, and hydrogen to translate consent into compliant, sustainable project delivery. This senior position offers strategic oversight, mentorship, and growth of ERM’s post-consent services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead offshore consents and post-consent compliance roles on major projects from consent through construction
  • Develop and implement consent management strategies to reduce environmental and regulatory risk
  • Create and maintain registers for consents, commitments, and obligations
  • Oversee consent compliance processes and ensure delivery of environmental commitments
  • Coordinate applications for discharge of requirements and planning conditions
  • Serve as primary contact for consent and compliance queries with project teams, regulators, and stakeholders
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies (Planning Inspectorate, MMO, Natural England, etc.)
  • Support and lead environmental compliance audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews
  • Prepare reports on compliance status, risks, and consent matters for clients and leadership
  • Collaborate with engineering, environmental, planning, legal, and construction teams to integrate consent requirements
  • Support business development through proposals, client engagement, and thought leadership
  • Mentor and develop junior team members

Key requirements

  • Experience in environmental consent management or post-consent compliance in UK offshore infrastructure
  • Degree in relevant discipline
  • Proven experience discharging consent requirements and commitments on major offshore projects
  • Strong understanding of UK marine planning and consenting regimes (DCOs, Electricity Act Section 36)
  • Knowledge of EIA, environmental legislation, and mitigation during construction
  • Excellent stakeholder management with regulators, clients, and project teams
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills for complex compliance
  • Experience preparing compliance reports, submissions, and regulatory correspondence
