ERM is looking for an experienced Technical Safety & Risk Consultant to be based on the eastern side of the Pennines to fulfill project work in the Humberside area. This position can be aligned with our York, Harrogate, or Manchester offices and is a hybrid role, requiring some time in the office. The role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects for clients, primarily focused on helping them identify and assess major hazard risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop solutions to reduce risks.

You will support the successful delivery of ERM proposals and projects by adhering to client requirements and identifying opportunities for service development. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Chemical Engineering or a related science or engineering discipline, with experience in consultancy or industrial roles.

Main responsibilities:
  • Utilize industrial experience and understanding of unit operations to implement hazard identification techniques and risk assessments.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings such as Process Flow Diagrams and P&IDs is required.
  • Chair workshops including HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL determination studies.
  • Guide and assist clients to comply with standards like BS EN 61511.
  • Review and ensure the quality of project deliverables align with ERM standards and client needs.
  • Engage in business development, fostering relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Develop client proposals and expand internal and external networks.
  • Contribute to project delivery and support functions/techniques development.
  • Mentor junior team members, with previous experience preferred.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through effective communication and engagement.
  • Meet personal billability and sales targets.
