ERM is looking for a Senior Mining Consultant to join our mining team in Northern Europe. This role is a hybrid role with office locations available in the UK and Ireland. Occasional travel/appetite for overseas assignments is required. Our mining team works across the full mining value chain, from exploration, through to mine development, operations and closure. We work with the world’s leading organizations helping them navigate challenges in the global energy transition. We are looking for experienced individuals to lead project delivery and provide technical inputs to our diversified service offering.
Background Requirements
- Earth Science background, or mining engineering or environmental engineering background
- 5 years plus experience, preference for candidates with site-based experience
- Membership of a relevant professional body
Primary responsibilities of the Senior Mining Consultant
The new hire will ideally have an operational mining background, with the knowledge and experience to understand the challenges of projects in the mining industry. Tasks will include:
- Core project management experience, understanding needs related to delivery of consultancy projects
- Complete hands-on billable project work with minimal supervision. This work can include technical reviews, input to technical studies, completion reporting, formal reporting and any other work areas deemed suitable to your skill level and experience.
- Typical work areas (depending on work experience) include:
- Conducting technical reviews and due diligence on mining and minerals projects.
- Writing mine closure plans, from conceptual level plans to detailed design.
- Performing liability estimates, as part of mine closure planning and for closure due diligence projects.
- Conducting open-pit optimisation to assist with assessing reasonable chances for eventual economic extraction for mineral resource reporting, to support other members of the team.
Other expectations
- Analysis and report writing for mining projects
- Delivery of specific tasks within a wider project
- Working on multiple projects concurrently
- Working within a team of other consultants across the relevant ERM teams
- Possesses strong knowledge of the mining industry.
- Knowledge within at least one of the following areas will be an advantage:
- Minerals resource estimation
- Mine Planning
- Mine closure and rehabilitation
