An experienced and motivated Senior Infrastructure Engineer is needed to help shape and deliver the IT systems that support their Birmingham based organisation. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who thrives in a high-responsibility, technically demanding environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintain and support IT infrastructure across the organisation
- Provide expertise across compute, storage, networking, cloud, and virtualisation technologies
- Mentor & guide Infrastructure Engineers
- Manage infrastructure projects on time, within budget, and aligned to the organisations strategic goals
- Act as 3rd line escalation for complex incidents
- Deputise for the Infrastructure Manager and contribute to long-term technical direction
- Ensure infrastructure is secure, resilient, and compliant with standards (e.g. NIST, Cyber Essentials)
- Oversee data centres, LAN/WAN and cloud networks, telephony, and virtual platforms
- Manage third-party suppliers and maintain operational standards
Essential Skills
- Proven senior-level IT infrastructure experience
- Strong knowledge of Windows, Unix/Linux, cloud platforms (PaaS, SaaS, IaaS), and networking technologies
- Experience with firewalls, endpoint protection, backup systems, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365
- Project management skills with strong documentation and communication
- ITIL qualification and experience with change, incident, and release management
- Experience managing suppliers and third-party vendors
- Strong problem-solving skills
