Erin Associates are recruiting for a Birmingham-based software house who are looking for an experienced Lead Developer to take ownership of technical direction, architecture, and development best practices for a small, high-performing engineering team. This is a hands-on role where you'll lead by example while remaining close to the code.
The Role
As Lead Developer, you will play a key role in shaping the architecture and delivery of modern, cloud-based applications, while mentoring developers and ensuring high standards across the codebase.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead application architecture across Node.js, React, and .NET
- Act as the hands-on Technical Lead / Lead Developer within the team
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and day-to-day guidance to developers
- Design and maintain scalable SQL and NoSQL data solutions
- Drive performance, scalability, and cost-effective cloud architecture
- Produce technical designs, prototypes, and architectural decisions
- Maintain clear and concise technical documentation
- Collaborate closely with algorithms and data processing teams
Essential Experience
- 5+ years experience in cloud-based full-stack development
- 2+ years in a Senior Developer or Lead Developer role
- Proven experience mentoring and supporting developers
- Strong background in enterprise-level cloud architecture
- Comfortable working hands-on across the full stack

- Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, C# (.NET)
- Frontend: React, TypeScript
- Data: Strong SQL experience, MongoDB or equivalent NoSQL technologies
