Are you an experienced Controls Engineer looking for a role that combines technical challenge with global exposure? Our client is seeking a talented professional to join their Controls and R&D team permanently, working on cutting-edge handling manipulators, grinders and robotic systems. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of projects from concept through to commissioning at customer sites in the UK and worldwide.

As a Controls Engineer you will:

  • Design and develop control systems for new and existing products
  • Configure and programme PLCs and HMIs
  • Troubleshoot complex systems to meet customer requirements
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of control systems
  • Conduct rigorous testing, maintain detailed documentation and provide technical support during production
  • Travel internationally (on average around 10 weeks per year) to install and commission equipment, train operators and ensure safe, efficient deployment

What We’re Looking For:

  • HND or Bachelor’s in Electrical or Controls Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in control system design and implementation
  • Strong knowledge of control theory and feedback systems
  • PLC programming and HMI design (Siemens TIA Portal or Rockwell Studio 5000)
  • Familiarity with ISO 13849 functional safety standards
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel and work in challenging environments

Desirable:

  • Electrical CAD (ePlan preferred)
  • Analogue electronics knowledge
  • Hydraulic systems experience
