About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled Machinist to operate and program CNC lathes, milling machines, mechanical equipment and hand tools to produce precision components in a manufacturing environment. The position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to production and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Set up and operate CNC lathes, milling machines, and manual machines.
- Program CNC machines using XYZ Prototrak software to execute specific designs.
- Select and prepare tools, fixtures, and materials required for machining operations.
- Perform quality checks using precision measurement instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and tools.
- Maintain accurate records of production, including machine settings, programs, and inspection data.
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a clean and organized work area.
Essential Criteria
- GCSE’s in Math’s and English (required).
- Certification in machining or CNC programming (e.g., NVQ Level 3) (preferred).
- Proficiency with XYZ Prototrak (preferred).
- Strong understanding of dimensional and tolerancing of blueprint interpretation.
Desirable Criteria
- To be able to demonstrate Level 3 proficiency in core skills.
- Experience in leading complex machining tasks, optimizing processes, and mentoring junior machinists.
