Technical Authority Expert is responsible for the coordination, management, and execution of proactive and reactive maintenance activities that require advanced support beyond the capabilities of 1st Level Operations. 2nd Level Assurance Engineer expertise ensures our services are continuously available and performing to Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards. You will be assigned to work with ticket management and high-level network troubleshooting to resolve service faults efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform 2nd Level Operations and Maintenance (O&M) on customer IP network elements, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Meet or exceed network availability targets and ensure service continuity.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for network system faults.
- Prioritize fault resolution to meet SLA/WLA requirements.
- Investigate and resolve system/network problems comprehensively.
- Coordinate with technical teams to manage emergencies, liaising with stakeholders (MSIP, MSDMs) and Tier2 support/3PP vendors as necessary.
- Provide on-call support during out-of-hours on a Rota basis.
Candidate Prerequisites:
- Industry experience in Telecom/ISP/Enterprise with a minimum of 5 years of practical knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle customer inquiries and ensure resolution.
- Proven experience in 2nd level support activities and troubleshooting IP network issues and tickets (Routers, switches, and Firewall etc.).
- Proficiency in Multi-Vendor Routing and Switching products, including Juniper (MX, EX and PTX series), Cisco Routers (inc. ASR9K, ASR1K, 7600, 6500 series) and Switches, Commscope E6000 CMTS, Cisco cBR8 CCAP, Cisco ASA and FPR firewalls, Cisco Nexus(N9K, N7K, N2K), BIG-IP F5 : VIPRION, i5800, i2800 [LTM, AFM, VCMP]
- Desirable Enterprise/ISP hands on experience.
- Expertise in technologies such as MPLS / LDP, IS-IS, BGP, OSPF, L2VPN, L3VPN, VLAN, STP, EtherChannel / LAG, Ethernet switching, XGS-PON, Docsis3.0 / 3.1 (cable modem) and Multicast protocols.
- Proven track record of delivering results and meeting customer expectations.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience in influencing and persuading multi-customer NOC teams on fault ticket quality.
- In-depth understanding of IPv4, IPv6, TCP/IP, MPLS / LDP, Docsis3.0 / 3.1 and XGS-PON.
- Experience working on security nodes like Cisco FPR and ASA firewalls and BIG-IP F5.
- Familiarity with routing/switching protocols and IP products from leading vendors: BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS / LDP, VRRP / HSRP, Ethernet, BFD, STP, VRF, VPDN, NAT, Multicast Protocols, IPV6, Etherchannel.
- Desirable certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCIP, JNCIA, ETCP, etc.
- Hands-on experience in remotely managing and troubleshooting IP Networks.
- Strong knowledge of OSI Model, TCP/IP protocol suite (ARP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, SNMP, FTP, TFTP, HTTPs, RTMP, IGMP, PIM, DNS, DHCP), and network management.
