Our teams play a vital role in keeping these busy acute healthcare environments safe, compliant and fully operational. Across both hospitals, the estates infrastructure is extensive and complex from hot and cold-water systems to heating, ventilation, building fabric, drainage, medical gases, sanitaryware, and essential building assets. Every repair, installation or planned maintenance task you complete directly supports the clinical teams delivering life-changing patient care.

What Youll Do

  • Respond to PDA-issued work orders and complete repairs, PPMs, diagnostics and corrective actions across plumbing systems.
  • Install new systems and complete repair work following Sodexo Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
  • Undertake fault-finding on plumbing installations and advise on remedial actions.
  • Participate in on-call, 15-minute response and lift release duties as required.
  • Carry out CPD and mandatory training, including work at height or specialist tasks as needed.

Mechanical Plumber

  • Provide a full mechanical and plumbing maintenance service across wards and departments.
  • Deliver reactive and planned works on complex systems: hot and cold water, heating, pumps, compressors, steam, calorifiers, AHUs, drainage and more.
  • Diagnose faults, carry out controlled operations, interpret engineering drawings and support HTM compliance (including HTM03 and HTM04 duties).
  • Conduct statutory testing, installation work, fabrication and emergency repairs, often without supervision.
  • Liaise with other trades, contractors and clinical teams to ensure safe delivery of services.

Across all roles, you may be required to work alone, undertake out-of-hours work, contribute to emergency response and maintain excellent communication with supervisors, trades and clinical staff.

Youll Bring

  • NVQ Level 3 Plumbing (or equivalent) and strong plumbing maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of ACOP L8 and HSG274 and ability to fault-find effectively.
