As part of the Operations team and reporting to the Head of Generation UK, the Technical Operations Manager ensures onāsite presence as required and oversees all technical and siteārelated activities for UK operational assets in line with established standards and processes.
Responsibilities
- Integrate new assets (currently onshore wind) into operations.
- Conduct site inspections and turbine walkdowns and perform siteāspecific tasks as required.
- Manage contracts for operational assets, ensuring compliance with safety and technical deliverables.
- Coordinate O&M activities and maintain relationships with contractual counterparts.
- Monitor asset performance against KPIs using software/data portals and liaise with the ERG Performance team.
- Analyse technical issues, coordinate resolution and assess opportunities for cost reduction and performance improvement with specialist teams.
- Manage grid compliance requirements with distribution/transmission operators in collaboration with ERG Energy Management.
- Track operating costs, ensuring budget compliance, and process/verify invoices with the UK Commercial Contracts Manager.
- Ensure asset management aligns with ERG Global EHS&Q guidelines and local HSEQ legislation.
- Prepare periodic reports and presentation materials.
- Support annual budget preparation by defining required work/services.
- Support tender management and contract negotiation.
- Manage and review documentation and reports.
What You'll Bring
- Studies in Engineering, Renewable Energies and/or Project Management.
- Trainings: GWO (Working at Height, Advanced First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness; beneficial: Advanced Hub Rescue), WTSR awareness.
- IOSH certification and Environmental awareness (beneficial).
- 2ā3 years in a technical role within the onshore wind industry.
- Solid understanding of renewable energy technology and HSEQ UK legislation.
- Handsāon experience in operations management and contractor coordination.
- English essential; Italian or other languages beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SCADA, CMS, Power BI, thirdāparty monitoring/data platforms, SAP.
- Availability to perform work as required by operational assets, with flexibility in special occasions.
- Clear communication, teamwork with Generation (Operation) colleagues and ERG teams (local and HQ).
- Flexible and creative mindset, ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Willingness to embrace different approaches and support international teams.
Additional Information
- Hybrid working (desktop/home and site-based activities) aligned with the UK operations portfolio.
- Primary location: Northeast England (between York, Doncaster and Sheffield, not further South or East).
- Travel Requirements: Initial onboarding (up to 3 months) at the ERG Edinburgh office. Periodic travel to the ERG UK office in Edinburgh based on business needs. Occasional travel to ERG HQ in Italy and/or other ERG office locations.
