A Building Surveyor at Erewash Borough Council will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the planned and reactive maintenance for the council’s property assets.
What You Will Do
- Help maintain and improve the Council’s buildings by planning, delivering and reviewing both planned and reactive maintenance programmes.
- Carry out building condition inspections, monitor contractor performance, and update maintenance plans.
- Ensure strong health and safety compliance and support colleagues in Engineering, Building Compliance, and Corporate Health & Safety.
- Make informed decisions about maintenance and repair work prioritisation.
- Manage budgets, monitor spending, and certify contractor payments in line with contract requirements.
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to support sustainability, energy efficiency, and the effective delivery of building projects.
About You
- Experience managing maintenance programmes, building inspections, contract administration, and PPM in line with BS8210 and supervising construction works.
- CITB-SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or similar.
- Strong knowledge of construction, building pathology, procurement, H&S legislation, and IT skills.
- A valid driving licence and access to own vehicle.
- Professional qualification (RICS, CIOB, CABE) is ideal.
- NEBOSH Construction certificate.
- Knowledge of sustainability, CAD, and local government environments.
- Degree or HNC/HND in building construction.
