Erewash Borough Council is looking for a motivated Corporate Health & Safety Assistant to join our friendly Corporate Health and Safety team. With a National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health, you may already have experience or be looking to take your first step into the world of Health & Safety. Either way this is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, gain further experience and become a valued member of our dedicated team. Responsibilities

  • Supporting the implementation and monitoring of our health and safety management system.
  • Assisting different service areas to develop and review their risk assessments.
  • Helping ensure compliance with statutory obligations such as asbestos and legionella management, fire safety, and building inspections.
  • Assisting in investigating workplace adverse events.
  • Contributing to maintaining safety‑related contracts.
  • Helping to plan and deliver health and safety training, briefings and communications.
  • Supporting health and safety project delivery.
  • Building and maintaining your own competence and knowledge through structured training and self‑development.

Qualifications

You will be a team player, accurate, organised, and have a customer‑focused attitude. You must have a National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health, a good standard of education, computer literacy, and experience of designing or delivering training briefings and presentations to groups. You will have an eye for detail, be process driven and be able to collect, record and organise information accurately.
