This world-leading company in the field of safety and risk management have several full-time and part-time positions available for a Process Safety Consultant in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This hybrid role is split between the home office, co-working office address in Belfast and client sites, including periodic visits to the UK HQ in Warrington as required.

Their experience arises from detailed knowledge of explosion phenomena built up through years of extensive research projects, carrying out safety assessments, performing accident investigations and conducting physical testing at the company’s facilities.
About the role
In the role of Process Safety Consultant you will be working as part of a growing international team, aligned with the Company’s core values of trustworthiness, sharing and agility. You will be delivering high hazard safety and risk management studies to support our client’s consulting business in Northern Ireland and UK and support the global consulting business as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for delivering best-in-class project work and deliverables for clients
- Defining project scope with clients
- Managing your own workflow and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Project management, managing client expectations, scope creep and project profitability
- Conducting hazardous area classification studies for gas, vapour and dust
- Providing guidance and issuing pragmatic recommendations to eliminate and mitigate the risk of explosions and fires
- Modelling the frequency and development of accidents
- Modelling the consequence of accidents
- Assist with the facilitation of HAZID/ HAZOP workshops
- Answering technical safety queries and assisting clients with a wide range of safety issues
- Ventilation, Dispersion and Explosion Modelling using the Company CFD tool, FLACS-CFD
- Help develop and maintain commercial relationship with clients
- Proactively contribute to generating leads, opportunities and projects for the Consulting Department
About you
To be successful for the role of Process Safety Consultant, you will have / be:
- Master’s (MEng/MSc, or BSc with significant experience), in a STEM subject (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or other natural sciences)
- A Master’s degree in Process Safety and Loss Prevention, Risk Management, Fire & Explosion Protection Engineering or similar would be advantageous
- Experience of managing and delivering projects is essential, ideally in a consultancy environment
- Preferably 5+ years for senior engineer roles, or 3+ years for project engineer roles of experience in technical consultancy with knowledge of a broad range of safety and risk subject areas
- Enthusiasm for areas of expertise and providing motivation, guidance, and support to colleagues and the wider technical community
- Preferably experienced with commercial project management
- Full UK Driving Licence

About the rewards
For the role of Process Safety Consultant there is a salary on offer of £40,000 to £52,000 per annum, pro rata and the benefits include:
- Generous pension – 10% employer contribution irrespective of employee contributions
- Increased holiday entitlement with service – 1 x extra day for each two years of service (up to maximum of 3 additional days)
