We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Chief Finance Officer to join our client’s children’s charity based in Keele. You will be based at a state-of-the-art Centre in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside. In this role, no two days are the same and you’ll be working in an environment where every member of the charity adopts their ‘Whatever It Takes’ motto to ensure the charity’s success.

About the charity

Our client is a national charity working to transform the lives of disabled children and their families, enabling them to challenge the barriers they face throughout childhood by providing practical and emotional support. They provide a state-of-the-art base for the Charity’s therapies and an environment where ground-breaking research can be undertaken, potentially changing the way some disabilities are treated, affecting millions of people around the world. The Charity is going through an exciting period of growth, and this is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-moving organisation at a time when it will attract national and international attention.

About the role

The role of Chief Finance Officer is a permanent post where duties will include:

  • Managing the overall financial responsibilities of the Charity with the Chief Executive Officer
  • Overseeing the preparation and compilation of all financial reports and statements
  • Managing the Finance, HR, IT & Facilities departments
  • Assisting in strategies for internal growth
  • Managing the company’s revenue effectively
  • Watching over any future acquisitions or mergers
  • Working collaboratively with all areas of the business along with external stakeholders, to achieve the implementation of enhanced, innovative and sustainable commercial opportunities aligned to our longer-term strategic plans
  • Whilst managing the Finance responsibilities there will be major involvement with all areas of the Charity and will support the CEO as the day-to-day eyes and ears of the business

About you

The ideal candidate for the role of Chief Finance Officer will have / be:

  • Finely tuned forward-thinking skills and be focused on delivering effective and timely results
  • A solutions focused, flexible and personable individual who can interpret strategic objectives and take a hands-on approach in delivering these requirements
  • A proven track record in Finance, Business Development and commercially
  • Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
  • A corporate/commercial approach is a necessity in our customer-focussed culture; ensuring all stakeholders experience the best customer service and the desire to continue to support the charity long after any initial involvement
  • An astute ability to monitor income streams to deliver a minimum ROI of at least 3:1 across the portfolio.

About the rewards

In the role of Chief Finance Officer, you will work 37.5 hours per week and there is a salary on offer of £100,000 to £130,000 per annum, depending on experience plus bonus and other benefits. The Charity is committed to safeguarding children and young people and therefore adopts a safer recruitment approach through a robust recruitment and selection process. All posts within the Charity are subject to DBS checks, in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974). This role is eligible for an Enhanced with barred lists DBS check.
