We have an excellent opportunity for a Regional Mechanical Engineer to join the UK’s premier outdoor go-karting venue. This position will be covering the Milton Keynes, Surrey and Tamworth venues so you must be able to reliably commute between these 3 locations.

Our client has the fastest Arrive & Drive go-karts available in the UK, with three premium outdoor go-karting circuits in Surrey, Milton Keynes and Tamworth they cater for beginners and serious enthusiasts alike, and provide a range of different race formats which allow drivers to simply ‘Arrive & Drive’ or compete in exhilarating public ‘Open Races’ which include practice/qualifying, an F1-style race and a podium finish for the top three drivers.
About the role
As a Regional Mechanical Engineer you will have overall responsibility of management, purchase and maintenance of group engineering function and supply of appropriate and effective kart fleets to the group and your responsibilities will include:
- Manage and monitor group engineering teams
- Sourcing and provision of group kart requirement
- Maintenance of group kart fleets
- Liaison with group kart suppliers
- Planning and maintenance of group engineering function
- Management of recruitment of venue engineering teams in liaison with HR
- Determining group engineering budgets
- Management of kart service function in line with budgets
- Management and provision and distribution of group kart spares
- Sourcing and maintaining group kart equipment
- Review engineering spend for each venue monthly
- Responsibility for group engineering Health & Safety function
- Carry out Risk Assessments
- Responsible for all maintenance paperwork and records
- Carry out research on system or programs which detects / makes daily checks on karts and keeps accurate records
- Future (kart) product development
- Publish weekly rota and oversee performance of Engineering teams
- Train engineering managers on how to carry out reviews and appraisals and interview prospective recruits
- Deliver mechanical training and develop an approved supplier list and stock list
- Maintain car and equipment required for F1 Pit Stop challenge and manage logistics as required
- Moving assets and supplies between venues as necessary
About you
To be successful for the role of Regional Mechanical Engineer you will be / have:
- Previous mechanical experience within the corporate / race kart or motorsport sectors
- Be able to follow instruction quickly and effectively
- Be highly motivated and work well in a team
- Have excellent communication skills
- Ensure that the karts are maintained to the highest standards of safety
- Be able to work unassisted and ensure all targets are met without fail
- Ensure all paperwork is kept up to date on a daily basis whilst ensuring that all paperwork is completed correctly and within the required timescales
- Have maintenance level mechanical and engineering experience
- Be able to reliably commute between the Milton Keynes, Surrey and Tamworth venues
