This environmental services organisation requires an experienced and enthusiastic Mechanic / Vehicle Technician for their Central Vehicle Maintenance Unit in Blackpool. About the role As Mechanic / Vehicle Technician, you will: Carry out the routine repair, inspections and maintenance for all Vehicle types Repair and maintain trade specific or specialised power tools, plant and equipment Ensure Health and Safety is adhered to at all times Main duties and responsibilities: Using diagnostic equipment and practical skills and experience to identify problems and repair vehicles, plant and other equipment Repair and maintain any fleet of plant, agriculture and horticulture units Tackle and resolve straightforward problems Modify work daily to suit without waiting for instruction Ensure HGV’s are repaired ready for use without reference to supervisor Seeking solutions to more complex problems to be referred to supervisor Working to agreed timescales within the organisation\’s procedures and best practice Adhering to the HSE industry and the organisation\’s standards Ensure HGV MOT’s are carried out to the required standard Completing paperwork on a daily basis in line with compliance requirements About the rewards For the role of Mechanic / Vehicle Technician there is a salary on offer of £32,606 per annum and benefits include: 21 days paid Holidays + Bank Holidays Access to company pension scheme Free staff parking Access to Employee Assistance Programme (365 day support 24/7) Range of employee discounts available for local attractions and discounted membership of Council Leisure Centres Shift patterns You will be working 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday: Mon & Tue – 5am until 2pm Wed & Thur -8am until 5pm Fri – Week 1 5am until 10am / Week 2 10am until 3.30pm About you To be successful for the role of Mechanic / Vehicle Technician, you will need: NVQ 3 / City & Guilds level 2 and 3 or equivalent Mechanic experience Knowledge of working in a workshop environment Category B Driving Licence About the company The organisation provides Waste collection, Street cleaning, grounds, and Park maintenance giving communities a high-quality, responsive and reliable waste environmental service.
