Manor High School is seeking to appoint two committed and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors in Oadby. There are two positions available, one permanent post and one temporary post until August 2023 and you will work 31.25 hours per week, 8.15am to 3.15pm, term time plus 1 week. About the role
The successful Cover Supervisors will be required to provide cover for absent teaching staff across a broad range of subjects. This role may suit a graduate and/or someone who is considering a future in teaching or working with children and young people. Most importantly, we are looking for candidates with a strong commitment to young people and their learning.
Main duties will be to:
- Provide supervised support to a class whose teacher is absent from school
- Support the Curriculum Manager with all areas of curriculum and/or academic management
- Be back-up to the Curriculum Manager on the day-to-day arrangements for cover in the school
The successful applicants for the roles of Cover Supervisors will have an enthusiastic and optimistic approach, and be able to remain calm under pressure.
About the responsibilities
In the role of Cover Supervisor you will:
- Liaise with the Curriculum Manager, in order to maintain a high standard of teaching and learning within the classroom
- Work within classrooms under the direction of the appropriate Curriculum Leader, to provide cover support for absent teachers and complete detailed feedback at the end of each day
- Provide in lesson support for learners, or administration support for departments when not required for cover for absent staff
- Maintain a calm and purposeful working atmosphere within the classroom
- Ensure students continue to make progress with their learning in the absence of their class teacher
- Support the Curriculum Manager to enable the effective operation of the school day and deputise when required
- Assist the Curriculum Manager with all areas of curriculum and/or academic management
- Provide support during the GCSE Option choice process, including managing and assisting with the online applications system
About you
The ideal candidates for the roles of Cover Supervisor will have/be:
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work on their own initiative
- The ability to manage a classroom of approximately 30 students
- Previous experience of working in an educational setting would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given.

For the roles of Cover Supervisor, the full-time salary is £22,571 - £24,920 per annum. The actual salary is (72.55% FTE): £16,375 - £18,079 per annum. We value you.
