Our client is seeking a Client Project Manager to help transform, refurbish and expand their beautiful Museum and Art Gallery in Carlisle. A full Job Specification and Recruitment Pack will be sent to you on application.

About the company

Our client is Carlisle\’s finest visitor attraction. They house a large collection of fine and decorative art, human history and natural sciences. They host a wide range of exhibitions and events, brought together in one impressive museum and art gallery. The museum is located in a classical Grade One Listed Jacobean building, filled to the brim with exciting exhibits and interactive displays.

About the role

Our Client is looking for an experienced Client Project Manager to spearhead this once-in-a-generation investment programme, which will transform the museum and create a brand-new visitor experience. It will see the main building reordered, galleries refurbished, public facilities updated and new property acquired. The successful Client Project Manager’s responsibilities will include :

  • Planning, managing and delivering projects that will reshape the museum as part of the 2019 masterplan
  • Working with the Programme Manager to lead the complete project lifecycle, from brief definition, through to construction and handover
  • Managing the project to agreed time, cost and quality standards, ensuring renovations are integrated with the Museum’s operations
  • Managing the procurement of consultant’s services and input into the project, ensuring required outputs are delivered
  • Working closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and organisation
  • Co-ordinating input into RIBA work stages and the outputs required for the National Lottery Heritage Fund Stage 2 application
  • Managing project budgets and reporting to funders, ensuring spending is in line with funding conditions
  • Liaising with the Finance team to monitor expenditure and cash flow for the project

About the person

To be successful for the role of Client Project Manager previous experience of working within a cultural organisation would be desirable but is not essential and you must be / have :

  • Solid experience of managing multiple projects at once and liaising between relevant parties to ensure projects are delivered effectively
  • Experience working with public funders and delivering complex capital projects on time and to budget
  • Experience working as part of a dynamic project management team, sharing knowledge and expertise, establishing common practices and structures, and working collaboratively across the whole programme of masterplan projects
  • The ability to work without close supervision, organise your own time and work to tight deadlines across multiple project requirements
  • The ability to be proactive and use your initiative to deal with a range of tasks and challenges, even in ambiguous situations

About the hours & rewards

For the role of Client Project Manager your working hours will be 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This is a fixed term contract until March 2024 but there is a possibility for further extensions subject to funding and you will receive an excellent salary of up to £36,370 per annum depending on experience.
