We have an excellent opportunity for a part-time Administration Assistant to join one of the largest and oldest Friendly Societies in the UK, working alongside and supporting the District Secretary at their Bury St Edmunds & Colchester Branch.

About the hours and salary
The role is based at the offices, with an opportunity to work from home when appropriate. The salary is £12.50 per hour, with an average of 15 hours per week, typically 5 hours per day. Evening and weekend work should not be required, but additional pay would be discussed if necessary.
About the role
As a part-time Administration Assistant, you will support the District Secretary in providing effective administration for the four social lodges, serving approximately 1100 members in Suffolk and North Essex. Reporting to the District Secretary, your responsibilities will include:
- Using the in-house computer system for membership enquiries, renewals, and benefits payments
- Preparing and recording cheques, credit card, and BACS payments
- Managing incoming and outgoing mail
- Maintaining the booking system and invoices for hall lettings
- Processing payments from members and others
- Performing general office administration and other reasonable tasks
- In the absence of the District Secretary, taking responsibility for office and building security
The successful candidate will develop knowledge of Friendly Society Rules and Procedures, with training provided. Membership benefits are available at no cost.
