Job Description: Working alongside the current Garment Techs within the Production Team, this role is an important support role and would suit someone with a sound knowledge of garment construction and production methods. The main aspect of this role revolves around ensuring that the Garment techs can achieve the on time sealing of all styles, ensuring these are correct to the design and technical specifications, and launched both for PPS and bulk production in an efficient and timely manner, in line with the tech CP and production planning. The role requires a candidate who will communicate in an informative, clear and concise manner, can check tech packs and measure garments correctly and assist the Garment Techs in all daily aspects of their work. This requires an enthusiastic, hardworking, methodical individual who is willing to learn.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • To help check technical packs and graded measurements against the SMS ahead of pre-production sample launch.
  • To assist garment techs with PPS packs, collating all fabrics/trims/paper patterns and reference samples needed to make and launch the PP samples efficiently.
  • To support the PPS being achieved in a timely fashion and in line with the critical path.
  • To check and measure all PPS returned against the specification sheet ahead of PPS fittings.
  • To review the internals and ensure the PPS has been made as required.
  • Relay and make clear any problems noted on PPS.
  • To attend production fittings.
  • Packaging the PPS to be returned to the supplier with the tech packs and ensure the tracking system is updated to monitor progress of any shipments and to ensure the supplier receives this in a timely manner.
  • To add images/action illustrations to support any changes to construction if required.
  • To measure and QC check size sets, update the QC reports on the tech packs and provide an overview of findings to Garments Techs and HOD.
  • To build strong relationships with all manufacturers to be able to support GT’s over holiday periods and know how best to communicate with them.
  • To attend all SMS handovers to gain an understanding of the new season design & fit ethic and build a history of changes behind each style to help with PP approval during Production.
  • Monitor and record supplier performance and feed back to the wider team on where issues need highlighting.
  • Keeping track of the pp samples logging when the samples come in and out and ensuring all pp samples are sealed with a tag.

Requirements:

  • Would suit a graduate coming from a technical fashion course or already in a similar junior role.
  • Needs to be detail oriented and well organized.
  • Must be capable of working unsupervised in a fast-paced environment and is required to have strong common-sense abilities and a can-do attitude.
  • A solid foundation knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, grading, lay plans, fabrics and costings would be ideal.
  • Must be able to work well within a team, be clear and confident in their communication and able to manage working cross departmentally.
  • Knowledge and use of Illustrator would be an advantage.
