The Company:
ER Recruitment are excited to be working exclusively with our client, Michael Smith Switchgear. They are a highly respected Leicester-based manufacturer and proud recipient of the King's Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. Due to a forthcoming maternity leave, they are seeking an experienced Finance & Operations Director on a fixed-term contract to provide leadership across the finance and operational functions. Working closely with the Managing Director, senior leadership team and parent company, this is a hands-on strategic role with responsibility for maintaining business continuity while driving key improvement projects.
A significant focus of the role will be leading the implementation and integration of a new ERP/MRP system, ensuring it delivers operational efficiencies and supports future business growth.
Role & Responsibilities of the Finance & Operations Director:
- Provide strategic leadership across the finance and operations functions during the maternity cover period.
- Lead the implementation and integration of a new ERP/MRP system, ensuring successful adoption across the business.
- Deliver accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and commercial insight.
- Drive operational efficiencies through process improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
- Work closely with the Managing Director, parent company and senior leadership team to support strategic objectives.
- Oversee financial governance, controls, compliance and risk management.
- Lead and support finance and operational teams, ensuring continuity throughout the contract.
About You as the Finance & Operations Director:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with significant senior finance leadership experience.
- Strong manufacturing or engineering background with a good understanding of operational processes.
- Demonstrable experience delivering ERP/MRP implementation or major systems transformation projects.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to influence strategic decisions while remaining hands-on where required.
- Proven track record of driving continuous improvement and operational efficiencies.
- A collaborative and approachable leader, capable of building strong relationships across all areas of the business.
