About the Role: A leading specialist insurance business is seeking a Senior Full Stack Quality Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality software products across a key technology function. This is a hands-on techno-functional role, suited to someone with strong Agile testing experience who can lead testing activity within a product team, support automation, improve quality practices and work closely with business, technology and offshore testing teams. The role will play an important part in ensuring releases are robust, well-tested and aligned to business requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a quality advocate within the product team, working closely with Agile team members including delivery leads, developers, offshore testers, product owners and business analysts.
  • Work with engineering delivery leadership on day-to-day testing activity and support a shift-left testing approach where possible.
  • Participate in all stages of the Agile software development lifecycle, including sprint planning, daily scrums, sprint reviews, retrospectives, backlog refinement and test planning.
  • Support production incidents and service requests by monitoring systems, fulfilling requests, coordinating with internal and external teams, documenting processes and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with quality engineering leadership to improve testing practices and establish frameworks for tracking quality metrics such as test coverage, automation coverage, defect density and defect leakage.
  • Work closely with offshore test partners on day-to-day testing activity, providing guidance and supporting skill development where required.
  • Quickly understand critical business processes within the assigned area and help build an internal knowledge repository.
  • Design, develop and execute manual and automated test cases covering functional, integration and regression testing scenarios.
  • Create, maintain and enhance test automation scripts using UI automation tools such as Katalon Studio.
  • Collaborate with automation specialists to implement automation best practice and ensure alignment with the latest tooling features.
  • Work with engineering delivery leads to identify opportunities to introduce in-sprint automation within the testing lifecycle.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for defects and work with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Support business users with acceptance testing where required and facilitate demos during the sprint lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to resolve environment and deployment issues.
  • Adapt quickly to the assigned product team and ways of working.
  • Establish a knowledge transition plan by working closely with key product stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate effective collaboration with product, engineering, business analysis and offshore partner teams.

Qualifications:

  • Strong experience working within Scrum teams, specialising in both manual testing and test automation.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Quality Engineer or similar.
  • Strong experience with Pega, including scenario testing.
  • Experience with test automation tools, ideally Katalon Professional or Expert certification.
  • Experience working with DevOps pipelines, CI/CD and Azure Test Plans.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure environments.
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment, with three days per week in a central London office and two days remote.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the London Market insurance environment.
  • London Market Insurance qualifications, such as LM1 or LM2.
  • Experience working within insurance technology, specialty insurance or complex regulated environments.
  • Experience working with offshore testing teams or external testing partners.
  • Experience improving test processes, quality metrics and automation coverage within Agile delivery teams.
