An excellent opportunity for an experienced Claims Technician to join a specialist insurance business and play a key role in the investigation, reconciliation, and resolution of historic claims and accounting transactions. This position focuses on improving financial accuracy, reducing aged balances, and enhancing the integrity of claims and ledger records. The role offers the opportunity to work across a range of stakeholders while contributing to process improvement initiatives and strengthening operational controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve aged and outstanding insurance broking account (IBA) ledger transactions.
- Reconcile historic claims balances, cash entries, and unmatched financial items.
- Review legacy claims files and supporting documentation to identify and resolve outstanding balances.
- Liaise with insurers, reinsurers, delegated claims administrators, and internal stakeholders to obtain information and resolve queries.
- Process correcting entries, reallocations, and ledger adjustments where required.
- Support the clearance and reduction of aged debt and legacy ledger items.
- Maintain accurate audit trails and documentation of all investigative and resolution activities.
- Identify and escalate complex, disputed, or high-risk transactions.
- Monitor outstanding actions to ensure timely resolution of legacy items.
- Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and company procedures.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to improvements in operational processes, controls, and transaction handling.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of five years’ experience within the London Market.
- Strong understanding of claims operations, insurance accounting, IBA reconciliations, broker settlements, and ledger structures.
- Experience using London Market systems, including IMR/ECF workflows, settlement platforms, and related claims technologies.
- Investigative and analytical mindset with the ability to resolve complex historical transactions.
- High attention to detail and the ability to analyse large volumes of historic financial and claims data.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence using claims and finance systems.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong numeracy, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Team‑oriented approach with the ability to contribute positively to wider business objectives.
Desirable but Not Essential
- Experience working with Global XB processes and systems.
- Exposure to legacy claims remediation, aged debt reduction projects, or ledger clean‑up initiatives.
- Experience supporting operational improvement or control enhancement programmes.
