Reporting to: Head of Core Applications
We’re hiring a Core Applications Manager to take ownership of the service management and performance of a suite of business-critical insurance applications across policy administration, claims and document/content management. This is an impactful role for someone who enjoys improving how services run day-to-day, managing vendors and partners, and leading through complex incidents — while also contributing to a wider technology transformation and a more product-centric operating model. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, internal technology teams, and external service providers to improve stability, quality and value.
What you’ll be doing:
- Own the BAU service management for a portfolio of core applications supporting underwriting and claims.
- Lead vendor and managed service performance (including offshore delivery), holding partners accountable to SLAs and outcomes.
- Act as a senior escalation point for major incidents (P1/P2), ensuring clear communications, structured triage and timely resolution.
- Drive problem management, root cause analysis and continuous service improvements to reduce repeat incidents.
- Ensure robust ITSM governance across incident, change and release management, keeping tickets and approvals accurate and compliant.
- Manage application risk items through to closure, including supporting vulnerability exception management where needed.
- Coordinate defect and enhancement tracking using tooling such as Azure DevOps (or equivalent).
- Support testing, release planning and production deployments in collaboration with delivery teams and partners.
- Provide reporting and insight on service performance, risks and improvement initiatives.
- Lead and develop a hybrid onshore/offshore team model, supporting capability building and high performance.
- Partner with audit/risk teams to support controls assurance, evidence gathering and remediation activity.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience managing/supporting insurance underwriting and/or claims applications in an enterprise environment (specialty/commercial).
- Strong vendor / managed service management experience (including offshore delivery models).
- Solid understanding of IT service management (ITIL-aligned): incident, problem, change and release practices.
- Practical experience using ServiceNow (or similar ITSM tools) and Azure DevOps (or similar delivery/defect tooling).
- Proven people leadership skills, ideally managing hybrid teams and multiple stakeholders.
- Comfortable running high-pressure incident scenarios and communicating clearly with senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical mindset: able to diagnose issues, interpret complex scenarios and drive solutions.
Nice to have:
- Exposure to common insurance platforms used for policy, claims, and content/document management.
- Some SQL knowledge (support-level or development).
- Understanding of integrations/web services, CCM/ECM, imaging or workflow technologies.
- Experience working in a regulated environment with audit interaction and security/vulnerability governance.
