About the Role

This is a senior, business-facing project leadership role for an experienced change professional with a strong track record in insurance or financial services. The successful candidate will lead a team of Project Managers across multiple regions, drive project management best practice, and provide assurance across a varied portfolio of business and technology change initiatives. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining people leadership, governance, and hands-on delivery in a fast-paced, complex environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Project Managers, including performance management, coaching, and objective setting.
  • Promote consistent project management standards, governance, and best practice across the project team.
  • Oversee the accuracy and quality of project reporting, including financials, risks, issues, plans, and core documentation.
  • Ensure key project artefacts such as RAID logs, budgets, and project plans are maintained and up to date.
  • Develop standardised templates and reporting approaches for senior stakeholders, steering committees, and working groups.
  • Deliver large and complex business and technology change projects from initiation through to implementation.
  • Define project scope, objectives, timelines, milestones, dependencies, and resource requirements.
  • Support the development of robust business cases and ensure benefits are clearly defined and tracked.
  • Proactively manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and change controls, ensuring appropriate mitigation is in place.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and act as a key link between delivery teams, leadership, and the PMO.
  • Provide project assurance and support strategic change priorities, while also delivering ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications

Significant project management experience within insurance, reinsurance, or financial services, including leadership of Project Managers.

Required Skills

  • Strong track record of delivering complex business and technology change programmes.
  • Experience in project assurance, governance, methodology, and best practice implementation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate credibly at senior executive level.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and deliver to tight deadlines.
  • High attention to detail, with a structured and disciplined approach to project delivery.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality written materials and present clearly to senior audiences.
  • Confident team leader with a collaborative style, sound judgement, and strong self-awareness.

Preferred Skills

  • Lloyd’s or London Market experience.
  • Experience working across international teams and multi-region change programmes.
  • Knowledge of tools such as Azure DevOps, Visio, Access, and advanced Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience contributing to process improvement and the ongoing development of PM standards and frameworks.
