Equitas are working with a supportive specialist provision in the Salford area seeking an experienced and passionate Post 16 Lead Teacher to join their senior leadership team. This is a rewarding opportunity to lead and coordinate bespoke education for students aged 16+ with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who are unable to access mainstream Post 16 education.
About the Role:
- Lead and manage the Post 16 provision, designing and delivering creative and personalised educational programmes.
- Teach core subjects (English and Maths to Foundation GCSE level) alongside occupational and life skills.
- Line-manage a small team of dedicated teaching assistants, ensuring high-quality support and promoting their wellbeing.
- Monitor academic and personal progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse needs.
- Work closely with parents, carers, external agencies, colleges and other professionals to provide holistic support.
- Ensure safeguarding, attendance, and wellbeing policies are upheld to the highest standard.
- Promote a nurturing, respectful and inclusive learning environment within a community-based setting.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience working with learners with SEMH needs, ideally at Post 16 level.
- Be a strong team player and inspiring leader with experience managing staff.
- Understand trauma-informed practice, attachment theory and behavioural psychology.
- Be able to build effective, trusting relationships with vulnerable young people and professionals across services.
- Hold a full UK driving licence and access to a car with business insurance (essential due to the nature of the role).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee bespoke curriculum pathways and progress tracking systems.
- Liaise regularly with SLT, local colleges, safeguarding teams, and external partners.
- Organise and participate in EHCP reviews and contribute to school self-evaluation and development.
- Plan and lead enrichment activities including sports, practical skills and life development.
- Actively support whole-school improvement as part of the senior leadership team.
