The Role

We are seeking compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils who require additional academic, emotional, or behavioural support. You will work on a one-to-one or small group basis, helping pupils to engage with learning, develop independence, and build positive relationships within the school environment. This role is ideal for individuals with experience supporting pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small group mentoring for pupils with SEND
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement in learning
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies
  • Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils
  • Support pupils during lessons, interventions, and unstructured times
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to relevant staff
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Support pupils' social development and confidence

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • Understanding of SEND needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour positively
