As a Sous Chef you will be responsible for planning, preparation, cooking and presentation of food to the standard required by the Company and the Client.

You will also manage all stock control, waste control and ensure that all hygiene and H&S requirements are met to the highest standards.

Working closely with our leadership team on site, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining a high‑quality dining experience.

As part of Compass you’ll help to feed people, fuel progress and forge connections across around 6,000 venues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare delicious, high‑quality food that delights our clients and customers.
  • Oversee and implement menu changes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our food services.
  • Listen and act on customer feedback to consistently enhance the dining experience.
  • Support in the creation of new menus and creative food concepts.
  • Represent Chartwells and maintain a positive brand image.
  • Monitor inventories to keep kitchens well‑stocked.
  • Oversee kitchen cleaning responsibilities to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Comply with Food Handling, Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Be passionate about great‑tasting food and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

  • Hold a City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent.
  • Hold a Food Hygiene certificate.
  • Have experience supervising a team.
  • Have experience in a similar Chef role.
  • Have a flexible approach to working.
  • Over 21 and able to drive.
